Fertility is one of the areas which Katelyn finds most rewarding. She knows that trying to conceive can be one of the most exciting, vulnerable, and emotionally complex experiences a person or couple will navigate. Whether you've just started thinking about growing your family, have been trying to conceive for some time, are preparing for IVF, or have experienced fertility challenges along the way, she knows that you deserve care that is both compassionate and grounded in evidence.

Katelyn knows that fertility is complex and there is rarely a one-size-fits-all approach and because of this Katelyn knows that as a practitioner, fertility isn’t something you can dabble in, it is an area which you must stay committed to staying up to date in the latest research and writing treatment plans which are practical and completely tailored to your unique circumstances.

Katelyn’s treatment plans are truely individualised to your unique circumstances. No two plans are the same, as no two bodies are the same. In her appointments Katelyn will investigate the key foundations of fertility, including:

  1. Egg and/or Sperm Quality:

Optimising egg and sperm quality seems like the most important thing but it is only one piece of the puzzle. I know your googling might have lead to you taking CoQ10 (or ubiquinol) and whilst it is a well researched supplement, it is not the cure all the internet might have you believe.

  2. Blood Testing:

We have to start with basic blood testing to rule in or out nutritional deficiencies, assess thyroid function, check on your immune system ect. Let’s start with:

    • Full blood count

    • Liver and kidney function

    • TSH

    • Fasting glucose

    • HbA1c

    • Serum B12

    • Active B12

    • Folate

    • Iron studies

    • Vitamin D

  3. Hormone Balance:

Hormones are an important puzzle piece as they impact on your ovulation, implantation and pregnancy. If you have PMS, period pain, irregular cycles, ovulation pain, light or heavy bleeding then your hormones aren’t balanced.

  4. Vaginal Microbiome:

The latest research shows that the vaginal microbiome plays a huge role in implantation (getting pregnant) and reducing risk of miscarriage. Sometimes there will be symptoms, sometimes there won’t. Either way, it must be considered

As a proud member of the LGBTQIA+ community, Katelyn believes that fertility support should be inclusive, welcoming and respectful for all want to be parents.

Katelyn works with individuals, couples and families to support fertility in the LGBTQIA+ community, single people pursuing parenthood and those using donor conception. Every person’s path to building a family is unique and my goal is to provide safe, affirming and personalised treatment where your individual circumstances are supported and celebrated.

Inclusive Care

With so much talk about coupled fertility, preconception and IVF, there isn’t nearly enough discussion about natural medicine for egg freezing. Egg freezing is becoming more and more popular, as it gives people a bit more freedom to have children when they are ready, rather than when their body says they have to.

Egg freezing is essentially freezing your fertility, so we want to make sure we are freezing the best fertility possible. What this means is that all the work we would do to prepare your body for a baby, we need to do before freezing your eggs even though a baby is down the track. Katelyn recommends at least 3 months of treatment to optimise your chances of a positive and healthy egg collection.
